The Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) recently selected the Hines College's Community Design Resource Center's (CDRC) Greater Northside Urban Design Toolkit as the recipient of the 2022 Place Planning Award included in this year's Great Places Awards. 

Grant Funded Workshop Goes "Beyond the Survey"
Hines College assistant professor Deepa Ramaswamy organized and led a workshop to critically evaluate the teaching of architectural history survey courses. The Beyond the Survey workshop resulted as part of a grant Ramaswamy received from the Global Architectural History Teaching Collective (GAHTC) and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Habitat Project Receives Texas APA Resilience Gold Award
Professor Bruce Race's habitat project, Robins Landing Town Center: Strategies and Guidance for Resilience, was awarded the Texas American Planning Association (APA) Resilience Gold Award. This award recognizes a strategy increasing the ability of a community to recover from and adapt to shocks and stresses of natural disasters, human-caused disasters, climate change, and other disasters. 

UH Professors Named Senior Members of National Academy of Inventors
Industrial Design co-director and professor Jeff Feng is among six University of Houston professors that have been named Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the most UH faculty members to earn the honor in a single election year.

Black Hair Inspires Architecture Embodying Black Identity
The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts announced that University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design Professor Sheryl Tucker de Vazquez’s proposal Hair Salon: Translating Black Hair Practices for Architecture Using Computational Methods is among its 2021 grant award recipients.
