National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Fraternities and Sororities
NPHC does not have a structured recruitment process/period as each member group's national organization has different requirements for their Membership Intake Process. Each group will host an interest/rush meeting either in the fall or spring semester where you can officially express your interest and receive details as to what is required to attain membership with their group.
The NPHC hosts an event called "Meet the Greeks" every semester. During this program, you will receive a brief overview of NPHC and each of its member organizations. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the different chapter members and the chapter presidents. Each organization also has various events and activities throughout the semester that prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Fall 2024 Meet the Greeks – 8/28/2024, Multipurpose Room, 6:30 PM
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) Fraternities and Sororities
The Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life can help those interested in joining a MGC fraternity/sorority but the best way for a potential new member to get information about each organization is on their national website or the UH Get Involved website.
Each organization will host recruitment/rush events, which are basically informational sessions with the members of the respective organization. These are usually held in the early part of the fall and/or spring semester and this is a wonderful opportunity where you can receive more information about the organization and what is required to gain membership within the group.
United Greek Council
UGC does not have a specific recruitment process as each organization has its own specific guidelines for new member intake. Each organization will host recruitment/rush events, which are informational sessions with the members of the respective organization. Individual UGC organizations will also host a variety of events ranging from service to social throughout the year. It is highly recommended for those looking to join a fraternity or sorority to attend these various events.
The council will host a week of activities early in the fall and spring semester. This is an opportunity for interested students to receive more information about all the organizations in the council and what is required to become a member.
