Dr. Ethan Katz, Associate Professor of History and the Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, will discuss anti-Zionism historically and in our own time. He will examine the question of if and when anti-Zionism can be understood as antisemitic by exploring two major strands of anti-Zionism over the past century--what he calls "critical" vs. "negationist" anti-Zionism. He will then look at the impact of October 7 and the subsequent war, asking how these events have changed the meaning of anti-Zionism.
