Biography
Dr. Amanda K. Baumle is a Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of at the University of Houston. Her research focuses on demography and the sociology of law. She has published articles in journals such as Social Forces, Social Science Research, Law & Society Review, Journal of Marriage and Family, Population & Development Review, Population Research and Policy Review, and Social Science Quarterly that examine the intersections of law and demographic outcomes and questions related to the U.S. Census. She is also the author, co-author, or editor of three research monographs and three edited books (NYU Press 2015; SUNY Press 2009; Palgrave Macmillan 2009; Springer Press 2013, 2022, forthcoming 2025). Her research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Labor, and American Sociological Association.
