DSA Awards

Introduction
The Division of Student Affairs Awards program is designed to honor staff members (individually or as a group in some cases) who exemplify the Division's commitment to service. The awards recognize the ongoing contributions to excellence and student success as emulated through the division’s values.
Any member of the UH community can nominate an individual or a group of individuals who embodies the criteria of an award. Nomination should reflect individual’s or team’s alignment with the overall mission and vision of the Division along with an outstanding contribution to our collective goals. Along with recognizing work on committees, projects, and task forces, those who excel in day-to-day job expectations are excellent nominees for any of the DSA Awards.
Submitting an Award
For the 2024 program, all award nominations are due by April 4, 2024, by 11:59 PM. You can access the nomination form here. Please review the rubrics for the awards located in the right-side column and the sample submission for reference. You are also encouraged to review the Selection Committee and Nomination Tips below before submitting your nominations.
Awards Ceremony and Luncheon
The Awards Ceremony and Luncheon will take place on May 8, 2024, from 12PM – 1:30PM in the Houston Room located in Student Center South. You must register for the event to attend. An email invitation to all DSA staff members to register for the event will be sent by Gabe Jackson, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, in early April 2024.
Selection Committee and Nomination Tips
The DSA Awards Selection Committee is comprised of: Faculty Senate Representative, Staff Council Representative, Student Government Association Representative, two Human Resources Representatives. The selection committee is guided in their work by Gabe Jackson, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Some tips for completing nominations for the DSA Awards include:
- Only members of the Division of Student Affairs can be nominated for an award with the exception for the Friend of the Division Award.
- Nominators are not limited to members of the Division of Student Affairs. Students, faculty, and staff can nominate DSA staff members or teams within DSA for any of the DSA Awards.
- A nomination must have a completed form submitted by the due date to be eligible for consideration.
- Nomination information provided will go to the selection committee for review.
- An individual or group may be nominated for more than one award. However, one must complete and submit separate nominations for each award.
- An individual or group can only win one award per year.
- An award winner in a particular award category is not eligible to be nominated for the same award the following year; but an individual or group can be nominated in another award category if they meet the criteria.
- All nominees will be notified of their nomination and expected to attend the DSA Awards Program and Luncheon.
