The University of Houston received the Collaborative Program of the Year Campus Award from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) for the MyUH, MyHouston event that was held for the first time during the 2016 Fall Weeks of Welcome events on August 24th. The Collaborative Program of the Year Award is given to creative programs that exemplify the positive outcomes of collaboration within or between institutions. The award advances the value and credibility of the college union on campus, while improving communication, leadership, and campus partnerships.
The award was presented on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 during the ACUI National Conference in Philadelphia, PA. MyUH, MyHouston was organized by two Weeks of Welcome Committee members, Eve Esch, Director of Student Centers and Andrea Mitchen, Assistant Dean of Students in collaboration with the HoustonFirst Corporation. This event provided an opportunity for students to use the METRORail system to travel to the Wortham Center in downtown Houston. Students learned more about the city through a multimedia presentation that included information on arts and entertainment, food, working, volunteering, unique activities, and discounts in Houston.
“This program was a wonderful collaboration between HoustonFirst, METRO and the University of Houston that helped educate students on all the wonderful benefits of being in the City of Houston and how to use METRO to get around,” stated Eve Esch, event co-chair. “Their continued generous support for the event is greatly appreciated.”
Join us in congratulating MyUH, MyHouston for receiving the ACUI Collaborative Program of the Year Award.
