LGBTQ Resource Center hosts first ever Ally 2.0 – Pronoun Party Workshop

The University of Houston’s LGBTQ Resource Center held its first ever Ally 2.0 – Pronoun Party Workshop on February 26, 2018. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about gender neutral pronouns and how to use them in real life scenarios. The atmosphere was casual and safe for people to practice using pronouns such as they/them/theirs, xe/xem/xyr, and more!

This workshop was a huge success. Some comments from students were, “I liked the interactive activities and having student panelists talk about their experiences”, and “This felt like a safe space to make mistakes.” The LGBTQ Resource Center works hard to aid students in keeping up with the growing understanding of gender, thus helping to create a more inclusive environment on campus.

The UH LGBTQ Resource Center provides support and a safe space for LGBTQ students to access resources, ask questions, and make connections with other students. Through visibility and education, they seek to create an environment of LGBTQ acceptance and inclusion for the entire campus community. Services include a lending library, mentoring program, Cougar Ally Training, and discussion groups.
