The University of Houston LGBTQ Resource Center and Alumni will be participating in the annual AIDS Foundation Houston AIDS Walk on March 3. AIDS Walk Houston has been at the forefront of the fight against AIDS for more than 30 years, raising money to support HIV awareness programs in the community. The LGBTQ Resource Center is proud to have been chosen as a Benefitting Agency for the third year in a row. This year, they are aiming to raise $6,000+ for both the center and AIDS Foundation Houston.
70% of the funds raised by the LGBTQ Resource Center & Alumni Team will be donated back to the Resource Center and go toward HIV+/AIDS education and outreach programming for UH students, faculty and staff.
All UH students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends are invited to represent the Cougars at the 3K AIDS Walk Houston 2019 and/or make a donation to the LGBTQ Resource Center & Alumni Team.
For more information, please contact Lorraine Schroeder, LGBTQ Resource Center Director, at lschroeder@uh.edu.
The UH LGBTQ Resource Center provides support and a safe space for LGBTQ students to access resources, ask questions, and make connections with other students. Through visibility and education, they seek to create an environment of LGBTQ acceptance and inclusion for the entire campus community. Services include a lending library, mentoring program, Cougar Ally Training, and discussion groups.
