Student Life Welcomes New and Returning Students to Campus

The Fall 2019 semester is about to begin! Luckily, the University of Houston is coming together to welcome students back to campus with 13 Signature Events and over 120 other Weeks of Welcome events. From August 15th through September 1st, different departments and student organizations will be hosting engaging and interactive events across campus to help students Get Involved, meet new people, make friends, learn about the University of Houston, and discover new interests and student organizations.

Want more information about joining student organizations at the University of Houston? Come to Cat’s Back on August, 22nd at 4:00 pm in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Students get to connect with over 200 of our UH student organizations, eat free food, participate in fun activities as well as earn their own commemorative Cat’s Back t-shirt by visiting different areas of the event.

All students are invited to join us on August 23rd from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at TDECU Stadium for an expanded Cage Rage event to officially kick off the Football season! There will be bands, interactive games and activities, a pep rally with Coach Dana Holgorsen, fireworks, and a huge water balloon fight. Join the Spirit of Houston in learning the traditions and pageantry of game day at the University of Houston!

Learn more about University of Houston departments, University-Sponsored Organizations, and campus resources by participating in Campus Prowl: Exploring the Powerhouse! During this event, students visit different offices all over campus to learn more about university resources that help them achieve success inside and outside the classroom. On August 27th, from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, join the event by downloading the Scavify app and searching for “Campus Prowl 2019.”

Finish off Weeks of Welcome by attending the Cultural Taste of Houston in Lynn Eusan Park on August 29th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. This event provides students, staff, and faculty the opportunity to experience the richness of flavors and sounds from the city of Houston. Come out and enjoy the different and beautiful cultures that are represented around our beautiful campus and our amazing city. The first 1200 attendees get a free shirt!
