Carlie Pierre (she/her) has joined the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) as the new Diversity Education Program Manager 2. Pierre will oversee the Center’s marketing along with large-scale events like the Fall Speaker Series and Diversity Institute. She will also coordinate the “RISE” and “Committed Coog” Diversity Leadership Certificates. She will serve as a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), supervise one of the Instructional Assistants, and support all other diversity education and programming initiatives that come from the department.
Michael Crook, interim director for the center for diversity and inclusion, said, “I’m thrilled to have Carlie join the CDI team. She has extensive experience supporting and advocating for diverse student populations, a strong programming background, and will bring an approach to diversity education that will help elevate the diversity certificate programs that come from our office. I know staff, faculty, and students alike will connect well with her and I cannot wait to see what she will accomplish in the coming years”.
Pierre graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a bachelor’s degree in communication and public relations and later earned her master’s degree in student affairs in higher education at Texas State University. She has more than eight years of higher education experience and brings a variety of new skills to CDI.
Pierre’s experience includes diversity education, budget and operational management, teaching, marketing, and career counseling. Her dedication and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion will help fulfill the Center’s mission to foster an inclusive university community and support student success.
