    Full Circle: The Student Becomes The Teacher

    Growing up, Alex Hernandez (left) found inspiration in his elementary school teacher, Justin Burris. Years later as a struggling UH student, Hernandez connected with Burris, now a professor, to help him fulfill his dream of becoming a teacher himself.

    Top Fall Graduates Show ‘Remarkable Resilience’

    “As a first-generation American, I have had to navigate things without the help of others who have already gone through the education system,” said Maria Guadalupe Pizano, who sought support to rise to the top of the fall 2024 graduating class.

    Alum Named College of Education Dean

    Horn, a professor of higher education who leads three research centers, is the first woman to hold the position. “I’m so proud to serve the UH College of Education at this critical time,” she said.
