Michael Guidry, a New Orleans native, has been working in the arts for over 25 years. He received his BA from the University of New Orleans in 1992 and his MFA from University of Houston in 1996. After graduating from UH, he returned to New Orleans and worked first as an educator then as the Assistant Registrar and Curator of Traveling Exhibitions for nine years for the New Orleans Museum of Art caring for the collection, arranging travelling exhibitions and couriering high value loaned artworks all over the world. In November 2005, returned to Houston and took the position as the first full-time curator of Public Art of the University of Houston System.

As Curator, Guidry identifies artists for acquisitions and commissions, vets potential gift to the collection, manages the permanent collection, oversees conservation and maintenance of artworks, manages commissioned projects at all UH System Universities as well as temporary installations. Since 2005, Guidry has completed over 40 projects for the UH System.

He has also done independent curating in New Orleans and Houston and has served as a juror on numerous public art panels and served on many arts related boards.
