AURA Concert: Dark Sun

Sunday, November 17, 2024

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

AURA performs music by London-based composer Stephen Montague, who is in residence at the MSM during the month of November. In collaboration with UH choirs Resonance and Soundscape, MSM musicians, and members of the public, AURA will perform Montague’s “Dark Sun”, an incredibly powerful and moving work about the bombing of Hiroshima. The program also features the US premiere of “Wilful Chants”, a secular cantata described as “one of the most striking new works to be heard” at the 2010 Proms, with the UH Concert Chorale and members of the UH Wind Ensemble, and a variety of highly engaging chamber works from the always inventive and imaginative Montague.

PLEASE NOTE: We will perform the chamber music works from this program at a concert off-campus at a location/time TBD.
