Over/Under: Stories of the Taylor Estate

The legacy of E.R. and Ann Taylor spans across 640 acres, more than 150 years, and seven generations. It is a story of love, land, oil, and struggle. From the salt dome beneath the surface of the earth, to the railroad and Pierce Junction above, the site is a layered chronicle of culture, family, and history. Under the guidance of historian Dr. Beverly Stevenson, the stories of The Taylor Estate, Texas’ only African American owned Century Ranch, were chronicled. The Over | Under exhibit reveals these stories in a series of installations created by graphic design and architecture students at the University of Houston.
