Guest Masterclass: Christine Erlander Beard, flute

The Moores School of Music is proud to host flutist Christine Beard who is presenting a flute masterclass.

On February 6, she will be delivering a lecture-recital “Hope, Resistance and Torture: the Role of Music During the Holocaust” at the Houston Holocaust Museum.

Christine Erlander Beard enjoys an active international career as a soloist, chamber artist, and teacher with regular engagements throughout North and South America and Europe. An artist for Sankyo Flutes (JPN) and Hernandez Flutes (SPN), she has performed as a concerto soloist with orchestras in Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Canada, Russia, and the USA, and she is a regular artist on the international flute festival circuit, having performed in nearly 3 dozen countries on 4 continents. Second Prize winner in the 2019 American Prize Professional Soloist division competition, Beard is a member of the International SuperFlutes Collective and Professor of Flute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She launched the #flutistactivitst initiative – commissioning composers to write pieces inspired by social justice issues – in 2019.
