oct-humana-unpacking-box.jpgThe Fertitta Family College of Medicine’s vision to transform population health and health care starts at home, with our neighbors in Houston’s East End and Third Ward. We have established relationships with community-based organizations, health and social service providers, places of worship, civic organizations, and residents. Our partners help us learn what issues and projects are important to the community and how the College of Medicine can join the work.

In Third Ward, our Community Working Group joined other health committees to form the Third Ward Community Health Collaborative. The mission of the collaborative is to unite, strengthen, and activate community organizations to improve the health and well-being of Third Ward residents through shared power and collective action.

The East End Community Working Group meets quarterly for information sharing and to align our health activities in the community.
