Subsea Systems Institute (SSI)
Subsea Systems Institute (SSI) was established in 2015 as a Texas Center of Excellence
under the RESTORE Act and is a collaboration between the University of Houston, Rice
University, and Johnson Space Center (NASA).
EVolve Houston
EVolve Houston is a coalition of sustainability-minded civic, business, and academic
leaders who seek to accelerate clean transportation through electrification. Collaborating
with government, academic, private industry, and community leaders, our goal is to
improve regional air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Greater Houston
area.
Project SHOWPLACE
Project SHOWPLACE (Storing Hydrogen from Offshore Wind Power for Load-balancing and
Carbon Elimination) Texas Gulf Coast is an Industry-Government-Public-Academia collaborative
demonstration project that aims to establish the commercial feasibility of synergies
between offshore wind power & hydrogen generation & storage.
Energy Forecast
Ed Hirs consults, lectures, and writes on energy markets, the environment, investment
finance, corporate governance, and ESG. Experience includes the Office of Conservation
and Solar Energy at U.S. DOE, independent power producers, renewable fuels, and oil
& gas as a consultant, dealmaker, and executive.
