Experiential Learning in Energy
Bridge the gap between theory and practice through hands-on learning opportunities. Our experiential learning initiatives prepare students with real-world skills for careers in the energy sector through faculty-mentored research, global study programs, micro-credentials and industry conferences.

Energy Scholars
Participate in a year-long, faculty-mentored research project focused on energy-related topics. Receive a $6,000 scholarship, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to innovative research in hydrogen, carbon management, circular plastics, and more. Open to students from all disciplines.

Energy Graduate Fellows
Energy Graduate Fellows Award supports outstanding graduate students engaged in energy research. The program funds eight fellows with a one-year, $12,000 fellowship in addition to other remuneration. Applicants must have at least 12 months remaining in their degree program.

Study Abroad
Engage in a two-week immersive learning experience in Argentina. Explore the country’s energy transition, sustainability policies, and economic impact through site visits, hands-on projects, and discussions with industry leaders and local students.

Coogs for Energy
The Coogs for Energy Hackathon is a platform for university students from various engineering disciplines to come together and tackle real-world challenges related to the energy sector. The competition encourages innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork, offering students the opportunity to work on industry-level problem statements provided by leading companies.

Energy Banquet
This event will honor the hard work, innovation, and contributions of those who have played a key role in advancing energy research and initiatives. With a focus on internal accomplishments, the evening will feature speeches, recognition awards, and an opportunity to reflect on the progress we've made together.

Energy Day is an industry-led festival with 70+ STEM exhibits, interactive demos, and hands-on activities showcasing energy careers and innovation.

The UH Energy Career Fair connects students with energy companies, non-profits & startups. Open to all majors, with a focus on business, engineering & STEM.
