Acknowledgement of Health Insurance Notification
The Student Health Center facilitates the reporting and communication functions on behalf of the university.
The Student Health Center does not determine who the university requires to maintain health insurance, is charged the health insurance fee, receives the Health Insurance Hold or interprets/updates a student's:
- visa status
- residency status
- class enrollment
- admissions status
All international students, regardless of their visa status, are required to acknowledge that they have read and understand the University of Houston International Student Health Insurance Requirements each Fall and Spring term.
If you feel that this HOLD has been placed on your account in error:
The Student Health Center does not manage your university account. Our office activates the time frame that the university will process the Health Notification Holds, however, we do not know which students will receive the notification HOLD.
- The university identified you as an international student when the Health Insurance Notification HOLD was placed on your university account.
- If you feel that the Health Insurance Notification HOLD was placed on your account in error, the HOLD fulfilled one of its purposes by notifying you of an issue with your university account that you may need to address.
- Acknowledging the Health Insurance Notification will not rectify any error you may have to your university account.
- An error to your university account may have already been resolved, however, a change or correction to your university record will not remove the notification HOLD.
- The Student Health Center is unable to determine if your account is accurate. The only way to verify if your account is accurate is to request that appropriate department review your university's account visa and residency records.
- Acknowledging the Health Insurance Notification will not result in the health insurance fee being charged to your university account. The acknowledgment is that you have been informed that your university account indicates you are international and what the requirements are for international students.
- The Student Health Center WILL NOT manually remove the HOLD. The only way to remove the HOLD is to complete the acknowledgment as instructed.
- The HOLD will automatically clear once you have completed the acknowledgment.
