The Mitchell Center fosters relationships between artists and local, national and international organizations. This network of relationships lends itself to discovering new modes of interdisciplinary expression, collaboration and experience. The Mitchell Center works with partners to discover and develop new places where projects can be experienced by a wide variety of different audiences who are not always served by traditional venues.
The University of Houston is defined by its urban setting, and the Mitchell Center engages with many different areas of the city in order to support the rich, often complicated intersection between the university campus and its surrounding community. The Mitchell Center's organizational and commissioning partnerships have included the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Creative Time, BAM, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Project Row Houses, Lawndale Art Center, Aurora Picture Show, Da Camera of Houston, Houston Arts Alliance, Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), Alley Theatre, DiverseWorks, Blaffer Art Museum and more.
