Department Chair Search

The UH College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics has launched a national search for the next Chair of the Department of Computer Science.

Profile

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Computer Science (COSC), with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026.

The Department of Computer Science is central to UH’s aspirations in forward-leaning areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human-Machine Partnerships, and Quantum Computing, and to the University’s broader mission of discovery, innovation, and student success. The next chair will have the opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic department at a Carnegie R1 public research university located in the heart of Houston — the nation’s fourth-largest city and a global hub of energy, biotechnology, health, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. Houston offers unmatched opportunities for collaboration, with the world’s largest medical center, NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the headquarters of the energy sector, and rapidly growing investments in advanced technologies and AI.
