135 Students Receive Doctoral, Graduate Degrees at Class of 2022 Commencement
May 13 — The University of Houston College of Pharmacy conferred academic degrees to 135 graduating students and recognized seven Class of 1972 "Golden Cougars" for 50 years since their graduation at the college's 2022 Commencement May 12 at Cullen Performance Hall.
Among the graduates were 109 students receiving the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, 19 students receiving the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree, and seven students receiving the Master of Science (M.S.) degree.
Within the class, 13 students graduated with the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude (3.9-4.0 grade point average [GPA], Summa Cum Laude, with 33 graduating Magna Cum Laude (3.7-3.89 GPA) and 28 graduating Cum Laude (3.5-3.69 GPA). Graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA and honored as banner bearers for ceremony were Leah Kobeissi, Jason Levy, Kush Modashia and Summer Naser.
The class included 24 members of the Rho Chi Society Pharmacy Honor Society and 17 members of the Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society.
Graduating Pharm.D. student and 2022 Class President Erin Montejo gave the Student's Response.
The college also recognized several Golden Cougar alumni from the Pharmacy Class of 1972 on the 50th anniversary of their graduation, including attendees Robert Duhon, W. Benjamin Fry, Patsy Glantzberg, Larry McClaugherty, and Gary Pillers.
