State Standouts 

UHCOP Students Among New Officers, Scholarship Recipients and Competition Honorees at TPA Conference

July 31 — University of Houston College of Pharmacy Pharm.D. students were among the leadership, scholarship and competition honorees at the 2024 Texas Pharmacy Association Conference & Expo July 26-28 in Allen. 

Pharm.D. candidate Tyler Trinh, Pharm.D., and third-year Pharm.D. student Alyssa Glass, were installed as Chair and Chair-elect, respectively, of the TPA-Academy of Student Pharmacists Board of Directors. Kason Landman, third-year student, and Dylan Subroto, second-year student, transitioned into their positions as members of the Board of Directors and APhA-ASP Policy Vice President and Policy Junior Chair, respectively. In other legislative news, Trinh and Rachana Inteti participated in the House of Delegate session.

Hunter Adam, Pharm.D. candidate, finished in second place in the Patient Counseling Competition. Also competiting in the state finals were Mai Le and Adina Zidermanis. 

Pharm.D. candidate Tammie Lam and Trinh were awarded a Texas Pharmacy Foundation Scholarship and the Larry "Neal" McClaugherty Scholarship, respectively.

In addition, third-year Pharm.D. students Dewan Protiva and Adina Zidermanis were awarded TPF Professional Recovery Network (PRN) Student Scholarships, which helped support their participation in the 2024 American Pharmacists Association Institute on Substance Use Disorders May 29-June 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Third-year Pharm.D. students Barbara Abad, Meheret Tadesse, Alice Vu and Xinshi (Michelle) Wang represented the college in the quiz bowl-style Self-Care Championship, which tests teams of students on their knowledge of over-the-counter medications.
