UHCOP Welcomes Infectious Diseases Researcher Shremo Msdi to Pharmacy Practice and Translational Research Faculty

Sept. 4 — The University of Houston College of Pharmacy recently welcomed Abdulwhab (Abe) Shremo Msdi, Pharm.D., as a research assistant professor in the college’s Department of Pharmacy Practice and Translational Research.

shremo-msdi-abdulwhab.jpgShremo Msdi joins UHCOP from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif., after completing a two-year infectious disease fellowship program. Shremo Msdi earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kalamoon in Damascus, Syria, and his Pharm.D. degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy in West Palm Beach, Fla. After graduation, he completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fla.

Shremo Msdi’s areas of research encompass the impact of the microbiome on chronic diseases and recurrent infections, as well as the translational pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/Pd) facets of antimicrobial therapy.

Shremo Msdi has presented his research at several conferences, including IDWeek 2024 and 2023, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s 2023 Annual Meeting, and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Annual Meeting in 2020. He also has authored or coauthored research papers in Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Infectious Diseases and Therapy, as well as a book chapter in The Neuroscience of Depression: Mechanisms and Treatments.

He is a past recipient of the AACP Annual Meeting Resident/Fellow Travel Award and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy’s PCOA Outstanding Performance Award with Distinction for Scoring in the Top 95th and Higher Percentile.
