TMC Building Closed Indefinitely

Damage Related to Hurricane Harvey's Impact Forces Closure of College's Texas Medical Center Building; Faculty, Staff and Students Moved to Ensure Safety

Due to interior damage incurred during Hurricane Harvey, the University of Houston College of Pharmacy’s Texas Medical Center Building at 1441 Moursund Street has been closed indefinitely to all visitors and UHCOP/UH faculty, staff and students. The closure was implemented to ensure the health, safety and security of UH personnel, students, and guests/visitors.  

UHCOP’s leadership is working closely with the UH Administration and other units (such as UH Department of Facilities Planning & Construction) as well as external contractors to assess the status the facility and impact on all laboratories, offices and other areas in the building; develop and implement a plan for removal and/or remediation of building contents; and prepare temporary accommodations for displaced faculty, staff, students and college operations.

Many of the college’s TMC-based personnel already had moved to the college’s new home in Health and Biomedical Sciences Building 2 in late July, with the remaining personnel and operations expected to move to HBSB2 at the end of the year as construction on their respective areas has been completed.

Additional information regarding the new, temporary locations of displaced faculty, staff and students will be posted as soon as the locations have been finalized.
