45th Annual Festival Chicano

The “45th Annual Festival Chicano” is a reflection of the artistic creativity that has developed in the Chicano cultural experience after centuries of influence from native peoples, Mexico, Europeans, and the U.S.A.. Chicano music has been historically shaped by many diverse styles such as Mexican rancheras, corridos, mariachi, orchestra, tejano, conjunto, big band, rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll, and many others. This performance will also be livestreamed! You can watch it on YouTube, Facebook or the Miller Outdoor Theatre website.

Voter Education Workshop

Get ready for the November elections with this nonpartisan educational voter workshop. You will learn: how to look up your voter registration status, how to use the online VOTE411 voter guide, how to view and interpret your voter registration card online, and how to access your sample ballot and polling location schedules. Attendees are encouraged to bring their electronic devices and voter registration cards, if available. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. This program is presented by volunteers from The League of Women Voters of Fort Bend.

U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus

The Concert Band & Soldiers’ Chorus are the oldest and largest of The U.S. Army Field Band’s performing components. Founded in 1946 and 1957 respectively, these two ensembles combine to present joint concerts on their national tours. They have performed in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries for audiences totaling hundreds of millions.

Reel Talk: The Serengeti Rules

Reel Talk is a series of documentary screenings at University Branch Library with brief discussions of the films after they are shown. This month, we’re viewing The Serengeti Rules. This documentary explores how a small group of pioneering scientists discovered that a set of ecological rules governs how ecosystems function and maintain balance, revealing the interconnectedness of all life and the potential for restoring damaged ecosystems. It runs 1 hour and 24 minutes. It is rated TV-14.

Join us for our annual Boo-Berg Event on Thursday, October 31. The event is FREE and open to the public. Two spooktacular events – one fun day! Start by visiting Historic Downtown Rosenberg for Trick or Treating with many of our downtown merchants from 3-6 p.m. then head over to Sunset Park for Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. where several trunks will be packed with candy and treats!
