The UH Office of Technology Transfer and Innovation hosted a networking event for faculty to explore collaborative opportunities, exchange ideas and explore new business opportunities with Texas and Chilean innovation and business ecosystems. 

Leaders from Endeavor, the world's leading community of high-impact entrepreneurs, and ProChile, the Chilean Export Promotion Bureau, were present at event to help spark new ideas and discuss Chilean scale-ups aligned with the U.S. climate agenda, infrastructure, job and family plans, procurement, supply chain, near-shoring/re-shoring initiative, digital economy and energy transition. 

UH startups also spoke about their companies. Evan Erickson, Ph.D., talked about his startup TexPower that is housed at the Technology Bridge.  

TexPower was spun out of The University of Texas at Austin in early 2019. The company works on innovations for lithium-ion batteries.  

“We aim to deploy our novel cobalt-free, high-energy, drop-in cathode materials in lithium-based batteries used across the U.S. and beyond. Our cathodes can replace commercial battery cathodes ‘Powder for Powder,’ and thus are extremely flexible for any battery form factor and are applicable wherever portable power is required,” Erickson said. 

UH graduate, Ody De La Paz, also spoke about their startup Sensytec, which is also housed at the Bridge. 

“We are revolutionizing the construction and oil and gas industries by bringing smart cement technologies and real-time data collection to the forefront of every job site,” De La Paz said. 

Sensytec technology can detect any issues in the structure before it becomes a problem, thus reducing unnecessary costs with coring and cylinder testing.   

The OTTI team informed the Chilean entrepreneurs about the Technology Bridge, OTTI’s vision, mission and their work in the innovation area.
