The Houston Auto Show once again united automotive enthusiasts for an exhilarating five-day event at the NRG Center from January 29 to February 2. While attendees had the opportunity to explore a wide range of traditional combustion-engine vehicles, a highlight of the event was the participation of Evolve Houston as the Presenting Sponsor. Dedicated to promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Greater Houston area, Evolve Houston has consistently played a crucial role in presenting the latest advancements in EV transportation.

The University of Houston also partnered with Evolve at their booth, displaying a shared commitment to advancing efficient energy solutions. This collaboration not only underscored the significance of sustainable innovation but further cemented UH Energy’s role as a leading force in shaping the future of energy in Houston alongside its industry partners.

For the third consecutive year, Evolve Houston spearheaded the event's EV test drive initiative, allowing participants to experience the latest electric models from various manufacturers. Despite facing challenges such as adverse weather conditions on Thursday and limited availability, Evolve successfully facilitated 519 EV test drives.

“Test drives are a critical touchpoint for potential buyers, as they are typically undertaken by individuals who are not only highly interested but also close to making a purchasing decision,” said Casey Brown, Executive Director of Evolve. “For many participants, this was their first-ever experience driving an EV—an impactful moment that often extends beyond the individual through word-of-mouth to their personal networks.”

Attendees at Evolve’s booth engaged in discussions about how electric mobility is reshaping Houston’s automotive landscape, with many expressing newfound enthusiasm for EV technology.

As the “Driver’s City” of America, Houston is witnessing a significant increase in EV adoption. The proportion of electric vehicle registrations has surged from 7.5% to over 17% in the past year. Evolve Houston remains a key player in this shift towards electric vehicles, working at the intersection of business, government, and community to ensure that the necessary infrastructure, policies, and public awareness are in place to support widespread EV adoption.

“We don’t just promote EVs; we actively shape the ecosystem required for their success, from charging infrastructure to workforce development and beyond,” Brown added. The organization’s mission-driven approach is designed to create measurable impact, ensuring that Houston remains at the forefront of energy innovation. “Evolve Houston is helping to redefine what energy innovation looks like in the Energy Capital of the World.”

While the 2025 Houston Auto & Boat Show featured a wide range of awesome attractions, Evolve Houston’s presence underscored a larger movement—one where feasible and sustainable transportation is not just a daydreamer’s idea, but an actionable reality. As Houston continues to embrace electric mobility, Evolve remains a leading force in driving the shift towards a more efficient future.
