A facile one-step method for the preparation of 4-substituted quinazolines is disclosed in this report, in which 2-aminopheny 1 ketones are converted easily into appropriate quinazolines with substituents at 4-position, in a fashion of one-pot synthesis. This clean reaction can be easily worked up to afford materials with important applications in both medicinal/pharmaceutical and dye/colorant industries.
