Abstract of Invention, Technology, or Copyrightable Material: We have synthesized cobalt oxide nanocrystals using two methods, and we have demonstrated that CoO nanoparticles are new type of photocatalyst that can generate hydrogen and oxygen under sun light with an energy conversion efficiency greater than 5%.
