Classical cryptography relies on computational complexity to provide security, and is increasingly vulnerable as computing power increases. In contrast, quantum cryptography is the only means to provide unconditional security based on Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and No-Cloning Theorem. However, existing quantum cryptography protocols are susceptible to the man-in-the-middle attack. Current invention provides methods to authenticate communication parties during quantum key distribution and quantum data communication.
