CONTORTED POLYAMIDE MEMBRANES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

Contorted polyamide membranes overcome the permeability-selectivity tradeoff that limits the performance of conventional polymeric membranes for desalination. Incorporating “contorted,” shape persistent Troger’s base diamine and triptycene diamine monomers into crosslinked polyamide networks via a condensation polymerization increases the free volume of the resulting polyamide networks.
