Trimming fingernails is a task that automatic and effortless for most people. But it is different for someone who suffers from the disabilities of one arm that caused by stroke. Stroke brought them hemiparesis, which is partial weakness or paralysis on one side of the body and can make it difficult to grip objects, hold utensils, or perform other fine motor tasks with the affected hand; and spasticity, which is a condition where the muscles in the fingers become stiff and difficult to control. According to the research the team did, the main challenges is to place their arm in an ideal angle and hold it in that position during trimming, and to straighten their fingers to expose fingernails against spasticity.
