Certified Public Manager Scholarship for Hobby School of Public Affairs Intern Alumni Nomination Form Deadline: June 6, 2022 The Hobby School of Public Affairs’ Certified Public Manager Scholarship provides former Hobby Fellows, Leland Fellows, Harris Fellows and Civic Houston Interns who are currently working in government or with a non-profit organization paid tuition for the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program at the University of Houston (non-transferable). The CPM program is designed for government and non-profit managers, professionals, and administrative staff who are interested in enhancing their skills and abilities needed to deal with “real-world” problems and situations. It is a comprehensive course of study in which public managers and aspiring managers can acquire and apply the best practices and theory to their management behaviors and strategies using prescribed sets of professional standards. Eligibility Criteria The CPM scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the CPM-Intern Scholarship Committee comprised of Hobby School of Public Affairs faculty and staff. Ideal applicants: Are distinguished in their profession and poised to accomplish more Mentor others to help advance future leaders Serve as a model of excellence in civic engagement Committed to bettering the lives of others through public service Requirements: The nominee must have satisfactorily completed an internship as a Hobby Fellow, Leland Fellow, Harris Fellow or Civic Houston Intern. Satisfactory completion includes all written assignments and a good performance evaluation. The nominee must be a graduate of the University of Houston with no outstanding financial obligations to the university. The nominee must be working in government or with a non-profit organization. Must be able to attend class 1.5 days a month (one full day on a Thursday and one half day on a Friday).
