Registering for the Math Placement Exam

Q. How can I register for and take a math placement exam?

A. First, create an account on the UH Math Placement Website. After your account is created and your eligibility is verified (remember that math placement exams are intended for first-year students with no prior college level math credit), log in to your account and select the placement exam that you wish to take (Calculus I Placement Exam or Precalculus Placement Exam). Next, you will be given the option to review study materials (optional), take a practice exam (strongly recommended), or proceed to take your placement exam.

Q. I scored below 80% on the online Calculus I Placement Exam. How do I schedule a second attempt during orientation?

A. On the UH Math Placement Website, select "Calculus I Placement Exam" from the main menu, then select the "Exam Scheduler" under Step 3 to make a reservation to retake your exam. If you are already registered for a New Student Orientation conference, find the date corresponding to the first day of your conference, then select the 9:00AM time slot (unless instructed otherwise by an advisor).

Q. I scored below 80% on the online Calculus I Placement Exam and I was not able to take my second attempt during orientation. Can I reschedule my exam at a later date?

A. Yes, on the UH Math Placement Website, select Calculus I Placement Exam from the main menu, then select the Exam Scheduler under Step 3 to make a reservation to retake your exam on any of the available dates shown. *Note that online retakes are not permitted.
