Omolola E. Adepoju, Ph.D., M.P.H.
Omolola E. Adepoju, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a health services researcher and clinical professor at the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. She teaches evidence-based medicine and research methods and serves as executive director of research at the Humana Integrated Health Sciences Institute. Adepoju is committed to equipping students with applied knowledge that demystifies research concepts and promotes experiential learning.
Her career has spanned the government, academic, and healthcare sectors. Her collective experiences have informed her approach to teaching and research, which bridges policy, research, healthcare delivery, and community engagement. For more than a decade, Adepoju’s work has focused on advancing value-based care, evidence-based approaches in digital health, community mental health, and improving access to care in underserved communities. Her research uses advanced analytics and robust methodologies to identify patterns that improve individual and population health outcomes while addressing issues of cost, quality, access to care, and health system performance.
Adepoju has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and has led or collaborated on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and several national foundations and healthcare organizations. She has extensive experience leading interdisciplinary and community-engaged research initiatives that translate data-driven evidence into practical strategies for improving healthcare delivery and population health outcomes. She is also deeply committed to mentorship and workforce development, having mentored students, early-career researchers, and emerging leaders across multiple disciplines and institutions.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in physiotherapy from the University of Lagos, a Master of Public Health from Emory University, and a doctorate in health services research from Texas A&M University. Adepoju completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Texas A&M Clinical Science and Translational Research Institute, which included work at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety. After completing her fellowship, she served as an assistant professor at Texas State University. Prior to joining the Fertitta Family College of Medicine, Adepoju was associate director of health economics at UnitedHealth Group.
