UH’s Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine Welcomes New Dean
The University of Houston has welcomed Dr. Jonathan McCullers as its new vice president of health affairs and the second dean of the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected as the second dean of the Fertitta College of Medicine,” McCullers says. “Dr. Spann did such an amazing job shepherding the College through its first four years, and I am eager to take the torch and run with it.”

After a distinguished career marked by leadership, innovation, and dedication, Stephen Spann, M.D., M.B.A., Founding Dean of the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine and Vice-President for Health Affairs has announced his retirement from the University of Houston, closing a remarkable chapter in the history of the institution. His guidance has been instrumental in shaping the College of Medicine, growing it from inception to its first graduating class.
Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine Professor Awarded Prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship
Dr. Omolola Adepoju, health services researcher and clinical associate professor at the University of Houston’s Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, has been awarded a prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship to support high-caliber scholarly research and education projects at the University of Ghana Medical School.
The Doctors are In! Celebrating the University of Houston’s First Medical School Graduates
Graduation day. A rite of passage, a major milestone on the academic journey. Students, resplendent in their regalia, close one chapter in their lives and open another with the turn of a tassel and the toss of a trencher. 22 students at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine crossed the commencement stage on Saturday, May 11.

2024 White Coat Ceremony
July 27 at 10:00 A.M., the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine hosts the 2024 White Coat Ceremony and welcomes the incoming Class of 2028 as they don their white coats, a symbol of their position as medical students. They will take the stage and pledge their oaths at the outset of their incredible journey through post graduate studies. The entire College is filled with pride and excitement for the Class of 2028 on this momentous occasion.

June 8, Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine welcomes guests to the 2024 Faculty Development Conference & Preceptor Appreciation Luncheon. Join us as we host Nathan Carlin, Ph.D. as he presents The Hippocratic and Other Oaths: Ethics and Implications for Today (1.0 CME Credit / 1 Hours Ethics). We are also proud to feature Rachel Jantea, M.D., M.S. as she presents "Using ACGME Clinical Educator Milestones as a Tool for Self-assessment" before we round out the event with a series of workshops designed to help faculty flourish as teachers, scholars, leaders and colleagues.
