Biography
Jasna Marjanovic, Ph.D.
Jasna Marjanovic, Ph.D., is a clinical professor of pharmacology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. She teaches pharmacology topics throughout the pre-clerkship curriculum and co-coordinates integration of pharmacological and clinical sciences in the program.
Marjanovic has rich experience in development and execution of integrated medical professions curricula that employ active learning strategies. Previously, she taught pharmacology at the Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine in Houston, TX and at the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. Marjanovic’s scholarly interest in the education field lies within effective integration of biomedical and clinical sciences in medical professions programs. Her research background and interest are focused on molecular pharmacology of blood platelets and she has introduced many medical professions students to basic biomedical research.
Marjanovic received her professional degree in pharmacy from the University of Belgrade in Belgrade, Serbia. She obtained her Doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in hematology at the Washington University St. Louis, School of Medicine. Marjanovic has served in various leadership roles throughout her academic career, most notably as the 2018-2019 Interim Department Chair and as President of Faculty Senate. She has been published numerous times and has presented at many national and international conferences. Marjanovic is a member of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and the American Heart Association (AHA).
